As a first year teacher, there are so many things that I am learning everyday alongside the fifth graders I teach. Each of these supplies on my list will be something that not only enriches my experience as a teacher, organizationally but promotes student responsibility in their learning.
As a math teacher, I spend a large part of my day encouraging my students to be proactive in working out the problems in front of them.
Having everything labelled with their numbers encourages my students to become conscientious learners. To have a large supply of markers, erasers and other independent work supplies enables my students to be able to be problem solvers and put their work and learning first and not stress about the lack of supplies they may or may not have. As the school year continues I am so grateful to have a classroom of students to teach and love each day and the donations off my list will only provide an even more prepared environment for that to happen in!
