Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Keeping supplies available for every student during the whole school year is almost impossible! I understand that not all parents are able to re-purchase supplies for their child throughout the year, but I've noticed that some of my fourth graders are starting to become aware of what their peers have and what they don't.

My goal for this project is to make our classroom be the place where every student feels equal when it comes to materials.

I included headphones/scissors because those are some of the materials most students don't have. Our district provided ear buds at the beginning of the year, but they all stopped working. I hope to keep all of these headphones/scissors for every school year moving forward - that way these supplies are no longer a struggle. We use white boards every day which means we use a lot of paper towels and dry erase board markers. I hope to provide a more eco friendly version of erasing our white boards with the cleaning clothes - these can be washed and re-used every year as well! Timers (increasing fluency skills), privacy folders (allowing them privacy when taking tests or working on assignments), and guided reading strips (for any subject and can also be used as book marks) are materials I can save. The other 4 are things we constantly need re-stocked.

Having these materials available for anyone at any time will help speed up the process of certain activities. My students won't have to wait for someone to finish using something - instead they will have the freedom of grabbing these materials whenever they need them!
