Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My class will begin the brush study as a part of our developmental curriculum. We will use this as an opportunity to explore different art forms and artists throughout the six-week study.

I teach a 4s class consisting of students with an array of abilities. Many of my students love sensory. I hope our class can add their own flare to their child version pieces inspired by famous artists. We will paint with the tissue squares as we learn about famous Black artist Alma Woodsley Thomas. We will make self portraits inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat. We will use our spin art machine to create art like Jackson Pollock. If this project is funded, I will be able to introduce a number of influential artists throughout the study.
The additional materials such as the tissue paper, clay, and buttons, will also be used to explore different mediums and create art pieces that also help my students work on fine motor skills, practice their shapes and colors, and just simply have fun while learning!
