Every Student's Voice: Tech Tools for Today

Help me give my students access to essential technology tools to engage in remote learning. Both Padlet and Parlay ideas are designed with equity and access in mind, innovative ways to ensure every student's voice is heard.

FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Arbeiter's classroom raised $341

My Students

Our students are buzzing with energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for pursuing their passion as creative writers, dancers, actors, visual artists, and musicians. A diverse group of artistically talented young people from every ward in the city, our students' commute to school might be as short as fifteen minutes or as long as two and a half hours.

Centering students' voices and stories is the heart and heartbeat of a teacher's work, and I am passionate about co-creating the learning space with students--by working together, we build an inclusive community and equitable learning environment.

We have to re-imagine education! We have to be creative and find new ways to build community, especially during this time of remote learning when we are not together in the same physical space.

My Project

When COVID-19 hit our country last March and schools were closed, it wasn't the academics that most students missed out on. We met online through Google Meets, and Google Classroom provided a way for students to learn the material and submit their work. What was missing were the experiences necessary to do more than survive, to thrive in a learning environment--opportunities to discuss, collaborate, and push our thinking.

The technology tools Padlet and Parlay Ideas are essential to creating an inclusive classroom community where every student's voice is heard, where we listen to understand rather than judge and respond each other: this is how we cultivate a brave space for learning!

My project is seeking to purchase teacher licenses of these online platforms so that I can empower and uplift student voices. My students, currently seniors, will once again have the opportunity to have dynamic discussions, valuable group work, and engaging experiences. We all need that right now!
