My Project
Hello! My name is Ms. Olguin, and I’m a proud kindergarten teacher in a vibrant, diverse community where most of my students come from low-income households and are learning English as a second language. Every day, these young learners show up with resilience, curiosity, and an eagerness to grow — despite the many challenges they face.
Our classroom is more than just a space for academics; it’s a place where children begin their journey toward confidence, communication, and a love of learning.
To support them, I’m seeking help to provide essential classroom materials, from books and hands-on learning tools to something as simple as nameplate desk holders.
In our transient neighborhood, students frequently move in and out throughout the year. Desk nameplates allow me to quickly and respectfully welcome new students with their names proudly displayed, without using tape or making them feel like an afterthought. It’s a small but powerful way to make every child feel seen, valued, and part of our classroom family from day one.
Hands on reading tools such as the Gamenote Word Building tent, hand2mind Elkonin box magnetic boards, and the Lakeshore word building and sentence reading games would be so beneficial to my English language learners. These tools can not only help them read, but expand their knowledge and vocabulary of the English Language.
