Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach kindergarten to some of the hardest working five and six year olds around! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for reading and education!
My Project
I would like to request shelves and boxes to store all of our classroom manipulatives. Teaching Kindergarten, we have TONS of hands on materials to store. The only problem is, I have run out of place to store them. I want all of our students to have access to our manipulatives, but unless I "Jenga" them in just right, the materials end up everywhere! I would like to give me students the the choice of what activity they would like to work on instead of having to ask me to get it for them.
When kids have free play, I would like to give them the freedom to choose!
I think that by having a better way to lay out our materials, I will provide my students more access to our activities. My hope is that this will make my kids feel more at home in class. Thank you for considering my project!
