My Project

I teach an incredible group of energetic and curious first graders who come to school every day eager to learn, explore, and grow. Many of my students are developing foundational reading and math skills, and every day is filled with questions, discoveries, and “aha!” moments. Our classroom is a vibrant learning space, but we’re missing a key piece that would make our instruction more effective: a teaching easel.

This project will fund a mobile teaching easel that will become the central hub of our whole-group instruction.

An easel allows me to model writing, display anchor charts, use magnetic letters for phonics, and provide visual supports during every lesson. Most importantly, it lets all students clearly see and engage in the learning—whether they’re sitting on the rug or working at a table.

Right now, we make do with a whiteboard easel that is flimsy at best. A dedicated easel would help me organize materials, teach more effectively, and create a more focused and interactive learning environment for my students.

First grade is a crucial year—it's where children become readers, writers, problem-solvers, and critical thinkers. A high-quality teaching easel will help me deliver engaging lessons, adapt quickly to student needs, and maximize every minute of instructional time. It’s a simple tool with a big impact.
