Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are requesting DSLR cameras and lenses so our yearbook team can capture high-quality photos that reflect the true spirit of our school. Right now, our students are trying to document sports, events, and daily life using outdated or borrowed equipment—or in many cases, their phones, which don’t offer the quality or reliability needed for a publication like a yearbook.
Because of financial limitations, our students are not able to purchase or bring their cameras.
By funding this project, you’ll put professional-grade tools into the hands of students who wouldn’t otherwise have access to them. These cameras will be used daily to photograph school events, student life, and special moments throughout the year.
This equipment will not only enhance our yearbook, but also give students hands-on experience with photography skills they can carry forward into high school and even potential careers.
Our school is a Title I campus where the majority of students come from low-income households. We serve a diverse population, with over 72% of our students identifying as part of a minority group. Many of our students face financial hardships and don’t have access to the tools or experiences that students in more affluent schools take for granted.
Our yearbook staff is made up of students who care deeply about telling the stories of their peers, especially the ones that too often go unnoticed. They are passionate, creative, and determined to represent our full student body with honesty and pride.
