My Students
Don't you just love when your little artist hangs his or her latest endeavor on your refrigerator. However, first the little artist has to be able to create the masterpiece and that's where we need your help.
I am very fortunate to teach at a school where our students are given every opportunity to be successful students and citizens of our community.
I teach in the "Heart of Cajun Country" where our school community is like a good gumbo made up of many ingredients. We are a French Immersion school in which the preservation of the French language is evident. We are also a host school to students who reside at local shelters within our community.
My Project
With these various art materials, my students will be able to create art projects from the very simple to the more complex (complex in first grade terms.) My students will be able to create their own little masterpieces with materials they can use independently. Being able to paint colorful pictures with the washable paint will make illustrating pages for the big books we create more fun and engaging. Making collages with the various other materials will allow the students to be very creative as they explore with various forms of media. The portable rack will allow my first graders easy access to all the materials they can use to create their little masterpieces.
With every school district watching their pennies, you can imagine that there is very little, if any, money set aside for art.
Giving students opportunities to be creative is essential for young students to become a well-rounded student, expressing their creativity in a fun and productive way.
