Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk into the classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. I want them to be successful in school and in everyday life.
I teach at a Title I school in Kentucky where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
70% of my class are English language learners who love to come to school. Many of my students receive backpacks of food on the weekend and come from a very low socioeconomic homes. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they will be successful one day.
My Project
The ten frame magnets and cards will go to every classroom. The ten frame magnets can be used by the teacher to model and will give the students opportunities to use as well and get the concrete learning through moving manipulatives. The cards will be used to play games such as make a ten go fish, subtraction go fish, and so many more. They can play them in math centers or just for fun.
These ten frame manipulatives and cards will help every student achieve number sense!
Building this 10ness with number sense will only allow all of our students to have a better understanding of our number system which in turns makes math fun and comprehendible.
