My students need a Flip camera, with a battery pack and pencils.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Dunlop's classroom raised $362

My Students
I strive to make each of my students feel unique and appreciated throughout the school day. I would like to record them reading books and their writing so that they can each feel special.
My students come from low-income, mostly immigrant households.
For students who struggle academically or face language-acquisition hurdles, it can be difficult to feel special. I try to encourage each of them, but sometimes our limited resources make it difficult to engage in projects or activities which help students shine as individuals.
My Project
A flip camera is an easy-to-use device which can be incorporated into our daily curriculum. I can record students (and they can also record each other) reading books aloud, reading their writing, performing plays or on field trips. By watching themselves, students will not only feel good, they can also observe and improve their oral reading abilities.
I hope that using the flip camera will offer each student the chance to be a "star", even for the briefest moment.
This will make them feel special, hopefully leading to improved self-esteem and academic performance.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
