Every Child Deserves a Voice

My Project

The things I love most about my students is the perseverance they have on a day to day basics just doing things that society considers to be normal tasks and the faces of these children when they have achieved a task. These kids come from backgrounds of poor education, low quality of health, and financial hardship based on employment in the area. Being in this rural area, these kids don’t have a lot of resources within reach.

The Amazon Fire HD tablet and sound book will be used as communication devices for my students who are nonverbal.

This will give them a way to communicate with teachers and support staff such as OT, PT, and speech. The trampoline, peekaboo sensory fish, busy baby activity tote and chew necklace will be used to help some of our students who have sensory needs.

The PicassoTiles and chalk will be used as fine motor activities. These materials can be used as a reward and a reinforcement for our cool down center and for our challenging moments.

Image going to a different country and not understanding the language, so you’re unable to communicate. The feeling of being lost, the fear of the unknown, the constant feeling of rejection through the environment you’re in. Just wanting them to understand you’re the same, but, you’re just a little different with a different language and a different way of understanding. These are the feelings these kids feel every day. Like they don’t have a voice and feeling misunderstood by others.

My goal is to help make these kids’ lives a little easier, by giving them tools to help them maneuver through life. My goal is to see everyone of my students excel to their full potential.
