This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have the books but we don't have space or a place! Our super second graders need compact space saving bookshelves to call home for the books in our classroom library!!! We now have many brand new books, but nowhere to store or present them when the students go book shopping.
Our students are eager to get their eyes on text and their hands on these engaging book titles.
We need these shelves so when it's time for the children to switch out their books in their independent book baggies, the students can access these books and have the opportunity to "bookshop" as if they were in a real library .
Making choices on which books to read support important decision making life skills. Currently, the books are housed in boxes and closets. Students need to see these high interest titles showcased in these rotating book shelves. Easy visible access allows them to preview books and choose new and interesting titles. Otherwise they are limited on book making choices.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
