Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My severely handicapped students face many needs during adapted physical education class. My student are craving fun PE equipment that will be challenging and fun.
I teach Adapted Physical Ed students K-12th grade for my school district in Northern California.
I travel each day to work with them, individually or in small groups. They look forward to my visits and crave movement, learning a skill and social opportunities.
My Project
We have only basic PE equipment. Imagine if you were hearing or visual impaired. What a difference it would make to have visual an/or sound devices to provide you with cues so you could participate with your peers. I am requesting adaptive PE play balls, rings, and a communicator for my classroom. This equipment would create opportunities for the students to engage, understand at a deeper level, develop skills and connect socially.
This would make a huge impact on the students and future students.
Without donations, purchasing equipment is just not an option. If we are lucky enough to gain equipment from DonorsChoose, it will impact and enrich the students lives in many positive ways that will extend long after the school year ends!
