My students need the Wilson NCAA Special Edition Official Basketball in order to have an official ball for this year's basketball league, and the other basketballs for practice and class.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When students come into the gym for PE, each one of them is on a different skill and excitement level. My goal for each class is for every student to feel successful, regardless of what level they are on. A variety of learning options, aside from the usual sports, is key to diverse learning. My students come from low-income backgrounds, and our school is a title-1 school.
Many of them live in shelters or broken homes, and they often express how they would rather be in school than at home during a long vacation.
While many of the students at our school put up a tough exterior, they are a prime example of "Don't judge a book by its cover." They have warm hearts, and we try to give them the love they deserve, which they often don't get at home. We try to provide the students with after-school sports programs as much as we can, and the majority of the athletes in our school love basketball and volleyball.
My Project
Our school has lost a significant portion of its budget in the past two years. The basketballs which we have now are old and falling apart. The 8th grade class that is starting this school year has been nothing short of amazing the past 2 years. Their behavior, their academic improvement, and their citizenship made it a pleasure to come to work the past 2 years. Last year, the girls and boys worked hard on their respective basketball teams, while the graduating class of 2016 took their team for granted.
This year's team deserves to practice and play with new basketballs, and I know they will use your gift as motivation to make this season a success!
I put together a scrimmage late last school year with only the incoming 8th graders, and the way the played as a team was a sight to behold. Most of our students come from very low-income families, so having the newest equipment will be quite a treat for them.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
