This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 9th and 10th grade high schoolers are eager, courageous, and inspirational students who crave hands-on learning. They are all resilient adolescents in special day classes with mild to moderate learning disabilities. The Coronavirus pandemic has completely disrupted their usual learning pattern and schedule, and it is my job to make learning feel both normal and fun again. My students are the leaders of the school. I encourage them to a lasting legacy everywhere they go. They have done so time and time again through random acts of kindness in their school and community, reading to the lower grade levels, and letting their resilient spirits shine no matter the circumstances. It's an honor to help them take the proper measures to graduate as their final step before entering college! They are resilient, fun, caring, and deserving of everything that we can creatively muster to provide for them.
My Project
It's been quite the challenge having to completely shift to distance learning during these incredibly challenging times. With no signs of the pandemic going away, it's become quite palpable that distance learning will continue during the 2020-2021 academic school year. As teachers, we always do what we can to make learning both fun and meaningful. We've used our laptops, phones, anything and everything we could to interact and educate our students! My students NEED and DESERVE interactive, hands-on learning. This iPad will help me create innovative, engaging, and creative lessons for my students. For example, with the I would be able to utilize the whiteboard app within the iPad. During distance learning lessons, this will make distance learning more "human" and more engaging then watching pre-typed slides. Also, I will be able to create eye catching anchor charts on the iPad that will mimic the ones my students see in their classrooms. This will bring the classroom to them at home! In addition, using the video recording features, I will be able to record lessons and conference with my students and parents with ease! In the event of face to face learning, I will be able to easily connect the iPad. These tools are going to add efficiency to my workflow as a teacher which will allow me more time to CONNECT with my students! Thank you for your time!
