My Students
Our school is in the heart of Brooklyn, NY.
It includes students from Pre-K to eighth grade, and it is a melting pot of descendants from the West Indies.
The school is in a high poverty area, and about 95% of the students in the school receive free lunch. There are 18 energetic, three and four-year-old children in my class but there are not a lot of funds to enrich these students' education because of the budget cuts and although our families give us support they can't always help out financially.
My Project
My students will have the opportunity to stimulate and encourage their learning through the use of the iPad Pro. iPads help reinforce different math and reading skills with a variety of applications. Students will have the ability to use the latest technology to review and reinforce addition, subtraction, sorting and word building, as well as many other educational applications available. They will also have an opportunity to use it to view things on the web and to do face time with students in other schools. The keyboard case will help my students take extra special care of the iPad. This way future classes may continue to use this technology. It will also give them the opportunity to learn how to use a keyboard.
An iPad is not just a fun toy, but it offers thousands of educational applications to help my pre-kindergartners be successful in school and in their future.
Being familiar with different forms of technology is a very important part of a child's education but because of the cost schools are unable to keep up with the latest and best technology. I want to make sure my students have this opportunity.
