it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are passionate artists and select one of six majors (Dance, Drama, Technical Theatre, Visual Arts, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music) and study that major every day for four years while also taking a full academic schedule of core content classes.
The Black Box Theatre Classroom is their main creative laboratory--for acting.
Directing, playwriting, and design.
My students are hard-working, outspoken, passionate, and wildly talented. Many come from financially challenged backgrounds and have to juggle child care and jobs while also maintaining rehearsals and GPAs. Please help them have a positive virtual experience in a year when all things will be different than what they expected. "Oh, brave new world!"
My Project
My students adore their new comfy playreading nook. In a sunny corner of the Black Box Theatre, there is a bean bag chair, shelves, and shelves of plays, and a side table to sip a cup of tea or coffee or hot chocolate. An oasis for reading!
Many of my students are preparing for their college auditions, and this is a perfect place to relax and find inspiration for their upcoming auditions for theatre programs.
They have requested more bean bag chairs, and I don't blame them. It's super comfy!
