Etch-A-Sketch Art for Creative Kids with ADHD and Autism!

My students need 15 Etch A Sketch classic manipulative art toys. The Etch A Sketch art toys will help improve manual dexterity and encourage creativity in the art room!

My Students

I am the art teacher at a Northern Ohio community school for students who have been diagnosed with ADHD and/or Asperger's Syndrome (mild autism). Our school is a special education program founded on the principle that every child can learn. I teach 100 students from Kindergarten to 9th grade.

Our students attend a free, non-profit, community school for alternative learners.

We are dedicated to serving the needs of all students; specializing in students with Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder and Asperger's Syndrome. We adhere to the philosophy that all students can learn, given the appropriate instruction for that child. I love my teaching assignment because I get to deliver art education to kids who all think outside of the box! Most of my students are incredibly creative, and they are all open to learning about new art styles and techniques.

My Project

The art classroom is a safe space for these kids where their wild ideas and self expression are encouraged. Recently, my students became inspired by Etch A Sketch artists, and can't wait to try it for themselves! The Etch A Sketch art toys will help improve manual dexterity and encourage creativity in the art room! I want to do everything I can to encourage my students' creative capacity.

The ability to start over is especially great for some of my students who get easily frustrated when they make mistakes.

With a quick shake of the Etch A Sketch, you have a clean slate and are free to try again. I am confident that with these new art toys I can deliver meaningful art lessons for my students. I know they will enjoy the opportunity to work with a "toy" in art class and experience the benefit of developing their creativity simultaneously!
