My students need deodorant, soap, band-aids, tooth brushes, and shaving cream. It is my hope to have essential supplies for those students that come to school with poor hygiene.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are predominately of Mexican descent. They are 1st generation Americans, 98% are low-income, 26% are English Language Learners, and 14% have learning disabilities. Our total enrollment in the school is 800.
All students should come to school with all their basic needs met; mine, unfortunately, do not.
Sadly, a population of our students are homeless, and come from extremely low-income households. I want to give them an advantage this coming year. I want to provide them with the proper hygienic supplies.
My Project
Several students come to school unkempt, messy, and smelly. Hygiene is a big concern.
I would love to have an area of supplies known to my students.
It will contain all the items like soap, toothbrushes, shaving cream, deodorant, and body wash, they need to freshen up their bodies or appearance without embarrassment. 8th grade is such an impressionable year for students and they deserve to come to school clean and smelling good. Kids at this age can be mean to each other and I want to prevent them from suffering any type of humiliation. One simple intervention can change a child's outlook for the day. Our students come to school with so many disadvantages that if I could relieve just one it could make a huge difference in their lives.
