This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
5th grade is a time of so many changes, especially in bodies. This is the year we get to the conversations about puberty, body odor, and acne. The students cover their faces and giggle uncontrollably, but as teachers, it gives us the pride to teach them about the amazing human body.
This year, the month-long Health Unit unit was condensed into a 13-minute video, and we want to provide our students with more resources.
Students are filled with questions and curiosities but we don't have enough material to send them for reading. Books that answer all the glorious questions about bodies and changes can support students' self-awareness and confidence.
My Project
The books in this project provide support for students learning about Health and Wellness. From graphic novels to Q & A format, the books are a great resource for curious students. The 5th grade shares these books at Graham Hill and we currently don't have enough copies to keep up with student demands.
Human Body Theatre explains the systems in our bodies and how they work together.
Celebrate Your Body is a collection of Questions and Answers for girls wondering 'is this normal'? Guy Stuff normalizes new habits and changes. With learning happening virtually, it can be hard to ask questions or know where to go to learn more. Families are craving these resources to support safe and productive conversations. The books will be shared with families to support distant learning.
