Help me give my students the essentials -- a binder, tabs, and folder -- to start the year.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Rowley's classroom raised $170

My Students
Experiencing high school can evoke every emotion: fear or joy, angst or optimism, and sometimes all of these at once! Our classroom is a great place to begin learning about the outside world and how to be the best person possible in it. Each student is unique, from young athletes and artists to students with individual learning plans and young leaders. We're the fourth most diverse high school in the nation, and it shows in my classes!
My students are immersed in a journey that will culminate in college, leadership, citizenship, and life.
I want to prepare them to be the best readers they can possibly be, the kindest friends they wish they had, and heroes that their families and friends can be proud to know. High school can be difficult, but this is our chance to start on the right path. I want to recognize each student for their hard work during this difficult time.
My Project
I am teaching a summer enrichment program and some students, incoming freshmen, have not been inside a classroom since seventh grade. They are wide-eyed, nervous, and shy. I want them to feel safe and comfortable in my room when school starts. Some students have forgotten basic organizational skills. They haven't carried a backpack or notebook in almost two years. Others have families that cannot afford basic supplies because of pandemic setbacks. I hope to help students prepare for school in the most basic way -- I am going to help them get organized for their classes. They will have a binder, folder, and tabs to keep all of the new assignments and expectations straight. They might not remember school, but we can help them get organized from the first day.
Having the basic supplies means one less thing to worry about on the first day of school.
Some students have families that were drastically affected by the pandemic. I want to make sure that every student, no matter what, has the basics to succeed in my class. A brand-new freshman needs to be organized and I can help by sharing a binder, tabs, and folder with them.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
