My students need a set of US President cards, landform information cards, and writing journals to engage and motivate them to write in various content areas.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Queen's classroom raised $219
This project is fully funded
"I teach all subjects to fifth grade students. There is a high need to increase writing performance in all subject areas. I want to help my students become effective and creative writers in all of these areas. I want them to understand how critical it is to communicate through writing with a special focus on social studies and science.
Most students are used to writing mainly in their writing class. They need to have the world of writing experiences opened up to them in all subject areas. Currently, I have no supplies to attract their attention other than paper and pencil.
I need several books and journals to jump start their creative juices. I will use these materials as a writing workshop activity. This will allow the students to work at their own pace. They will be exposed to various genres of writing including reading response, playwriting, outlines, timelines, comic, biographies, and much more. My students will benefit from freedom of choice to explore their own personal favorite types of writing as well. The materials I have requested will makes this happen. The students will read the social studies and science materials ordered and then respond to what they read in various ways. That is where the writing materials requested come in. I will use the writing journals and organizers to help the children write poems, plays, letters, and other creative writing responses.
Your donation to this project will be the catalyst to possible future career writers. These activities could spark and inspire a child to a world of writing that they may not otherwise have known.
