This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am an eighth grade teacher in the Bronx where students come from many different areas of the borough. Our school has high expectations for all our students.
One goal my students and I have is to have them become better writers. We work hard on the different skills and strategies. However, we don't have a class set of dictionaries or thesauruses. We have only TWO dictionaries in our class!
While students are working on becoming better writers, they are constantly frustrated when they can't work on improving their skills because a lack of resources. Having dictionaries and thesauruses in class for the students to use will help keep them motivated and focused on improving their writing skills. Students are engaged in the writing process, and they are being held back because of this problem.
Your donation will enable the students to rise to the challenge of becoming better writers. They have the motivation, the skills and the desire. You can give them the supplies they need to be successful in their goals.
