This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students walk into the classroom each day filled with emotions from home, some good others not so good. Either way, a welcoming smile and a fist bump seems to get their day started off on a good note! We set our classroom culture by providing students the opportunity to have a safe loving, caring, stress free, and consistent environment.

I teach at a title 1 school in Houston Texas where many of our students are in need of structure and dependability.

It is imperative that each student is provided with the best possible education they deserve and desire. I would like to make this happen by ensuring they have the necessary tools to be successful daily.

We do not have much funding to provide teachers and students with the basic supplies such as copy paper, pencils, pencil sharpener, and etc. In our classroom we are always trying to reach a goal and trying to find exciting ways to keep all students engaged, eager, and excited to learn to ensure grade level achievement.

My Project

Having these daily supplies such as; paper, pencils, markers and erasers will allow all students to be successful. This will allow students to effectively use math interactive notebooks by color coding assignments and making it easier to use as a learning tool to reference.

Our area has sustained significant damage due to Hurricane Harvey.

these are some immediate supplies needed to calm and create normalcy for my classroom. Although my students resilient, their creativity is drastically hampered without these essential supplies. Our students have learned empathy as a result of the disaster and to see others empathize with them will be a great learning opportunity that connects real world experiences.
