My Project
I teach Language Arts in a New Orleans public school. This academic year, we needed basic supplies like pencils, erasers, and index cards. My students needed to improve their vocabulary on the standardized test scores. For my students to become successful and great citizens of this society, they write mock letters to the governor. We will be using index cards.
In my classroom, we are running out of sharpened pencils, erasers, and index cards for this academic year.
Our students will use these supplies daily to work together in collaborative groups on various skills and materials. Their access to extra materials is very limited if they have access at all. My parents are on board but are swamped and working two or more jobs.
Your kind generosity will help my students feel less stressed, and they will succeed. They have so much potential and are motivated to learn while working against many societal barriers. I want to give them as many opportunities and experiences to close all achievement and learning gaps they have.
