This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Basic classroom supplies keep a classroom running! I never thought I would have to ask for pencils, pens, markers and other basic supplies from generous donors, but here I am!

I work in a high poverty large comprehensive high school in downtown Los Angeles.

My students are motivated but struggle with basic skills and definitely have a hard time with my subject, Chemistry. Even though I ask my students to have basic supplies, many of them cannot afford to. It is difficult to ask students to buy anything for the class when they are helping to support their own families, when there are hungry children at home and all the siblings share one bedroom.

My Project

Materials and money should not stop a child's education. I have a station set up in my room with materials the students can use throughout the year. Your donation towards this project requesting pens, pencils, markers, and paper will go directly to that station and in the hands of kids in the fall. To make my content interesting, exciting, and engaging I do a variety of activities throughout the year. All of the materials requested support my students completing those activities. With the staplers and hole punches my students can keep their work organized in a binder. The paper, markers, and other supplies assist with poster projects throughout the year.

I do my best to give my students the supplies they need to be successful.

I am afraid that without your support I will not be able to do that this year and my students will be the ones who suffer. Thank you for your consideration.
