Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are high school students coming from disadvantaged communities and neighborhoods all over the five boroughs of NYC. A lot of them struggle academically due to poverty and most of them live in the shelter system. Despite having such difficulties, most of them still strive to do better and try their best to improve their current economic status by simply doing their best in school.
My Project
I requested for a mix array of materials from arts and crafts materials such as washi tape, clear printing transparencies, and origami paper to science, technology, engineering, mathematics materials (STEM) such as 3d Printing stylus pen with ADA filament, to science fiction books, to personal protective equipment such as disposable masks and gloves so that my students and I can continue our STEM projects even while we are doing remote learning. My students can continue to engage online while I demonstrate how they can create STEM projects using the materials that I requested.
