Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from diverse backgrounds and home lives. It sometimes affects them socially and emotionally. They mostly come from financially challenging homes. Some come to school hungry and rely on school meals for nourishment. Many of my students need to feel I am there for them which is something I strive to provide for them.

My Project

These materials will make a difference in my students lives because they will be able to read books that represent themselves and their classmates.

We need more diverse books of color in our classroom and if I need to do it through distance learning, I want to be able to provide that, too.

Exposure to rich literature with main characters of various cultural backgrounds which reflect the school environment is more powerful learning tool than anything else I could provide them.

I also want to provide rich and strong conversations around books which will lead to strong written words as well.
