Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We are an Equity Focus school with a gardening club composed of students from different cultures and ethnicities. Our club provides a safe place for students to interact as team players. Therefore, our garden club serves a community building activity for all students. Our plan is to plant vegetables, flowers, and trees of avocados, persimmons, and mango. We will also have another part of the yard with drought-resistant plants (xeriscaping). However, we would like to harvest the rainwater to feed our thirsty portion of fruit trees and vegetables.
We would need 1 container of 100 gallons capacity in order to store and supply water to our orchard and xeriscaping garden.
This project will teach our diverse student community how to be a team player regardless of racial and ethnicity background, as well as acquiring knowledge on the conservation of water resources, specifically in drought regions.
