Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I typically make use of the technology I have in the classroom to engage students in multiple modalities and methodologies. This is done through interactive learning with digital manipulative, displaying information through powerpoint with visuals (pictures, videos) or through Guided Tours such as Amazon or local zoo initiatives (virtual field trips). As an educator, my entire day relies on a computer. From updating student charts and profiles to attending professional development online, the computer is a tool that allows me to planned organized instructional groups and helps me grow to meet the needs of diverse learners.

However, there comes a time where we must stay current to the times and upgrade our equipment or fear lagging behind fast paced times.

Although we have made due, crashing apps, frozen screens, and long loading times have become a consistent drag on our instructional day. I want to begin this academic year without the fear of a computer that no longer operators as it should. Please help me ensure productivity and success by funding a computer that will allow me to due my job without hindrance.

Each year our district provides updates and new initiatives on SEL, STEM, and with our curriculum. I must be able to attend these meetings so that I can bring updated pedagogical knowledge into my classroom. Students will benefit if I can continuously adapt to their social/emotional needs if I continue to grow as an educator.

Lastly, students typically use the computer when testing 3D models or when running a long code from Scratch. To their frustration, the computer lags or repeatedly restarts. This makes completing tasks difficult and causes them stress. I want students to have a reliable piece of technology that they can use to edit and revise their CPU intensive work.
