Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are a high needs school with most of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is a diverse population with most of the student members of minority communities. We are looking to grow community opportunities at our school so all students can feel a sense of belonging and place within the school environment. My after school groups are looking for a place to connect with others who share their interests and how STEM can be a part of their lives.
My Project
We have a high needs, diverse population in our school that has recently started our second season of ESports. Our challenge has been that the school technology we have access to can not adequately support the games we compete with, so our performance has suffered. We are in need of a school-based system Nintendo Switch supplies. This will allow more of my student to play because they do not have access to the technology necessary to completely participate and connect with others. By supporting ESports, an interest in computer science has started to grow as students learn how to apply their gaming interests to real life. Supporting this cause will allow students over several years experience the thrill and motivation of ESports with the support of their school!
