This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At MSTMA at our school, a STEM magnet school in Boyle Heights (East Los Angeles), I am incredibly proud of our students—a vibrant, predominantly Latinx community known for their creativity, passion, and determination.

As part of our innovative curriculum, we are piloting an esports foundational class aimed at leveraging students' enthusiasm for gaming to enhance their educational experience.

Central to this initiative are the Nintendo Switch consoles, versatile tools set to revolutionize learning at our school. More than gaming devices, these consoles serve as dynamic educational resources designed to foster teamwork, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills. Integrating Nintendo Switch into our curriculum allows students to participate in multiplayer games that challenge them to communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly.

Our primary goal is to create a dynamic esports learning environment where students are motivated to engage actively. With the Nintendo Switch consoles, our objectives include enhancing learning engagement by harnessing gaming, a medium our students are passionate about we increase their interest and investment in STEM education.

Through immersive gaming experiences, students will cultivate essential skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, and adaptability. Esports provides an inclusive platform where all students can participate and excel based on their skills and dedication, regardless of background or ability.

Join us in transforming education and empowering our students to become future-ready leaders and innovators through the dynamic world of esports. Your support will enable us to provide these transformative educational opportunities, preparing our students for success in STEM fields and beyond.
