Help me give my students the joy of reading a beautiful novel titled Esperanza Rising. I need a class set of this novel so that all of my 6th graders will be able to read it this year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I will be teaching 6th grade this year and I would love to own a class set of the novel, Esperanza Rising, by Pam Munoz Ryan. My school is a Title I school and we service many underprivileged children whose families cannot always afford the most basic of supplies. With a class set of novels, I will be able to use the books for many years to come with other students.
The reason that I am choosing this specific novel is because the theme focuses on overcoming adversity and finding strength and beauty through family and self-reflection.
Many of my students face adversity every single day and I want to read a novel with them that reflects their own experiences as they navigate through adolescence.
