This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I serve a wonderful group of ESOL students, some are newcomers meaning this is their first time in the country, for some this may be their first year and others may have may have been here a couple of years. They are a great group of kids and are eager to learn our culture, language, and how to blend their home with culture and past experiences with their new environment.

It is an honor to be able to reach and teach the students that I work with, they bring diversity, multiple languages, a melting pot of experiences from the different countries they came from.

The use of the learning materials in their subject areas especially ELA & math will help my students focus on increasing their vocabulary, while learning how to incorporate English correctly while expressing themselves through speech and the written language. The use of headphones will enable my students to practice and focus of material taught. These students come to our country for a variety of reasons and it is our responsibility as educators to teach them rich and fully as well as provide them with the necessary resources in and out of the classroom to be successful.
