Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I am working primarily with English Language Learners in ELA content classes. Students primarily use a lot of index cards, sticky notes and chart paper when learning new concepts and vocabulary terms. These supplies will allow each student to have their own set of sentence stems, visual representations of concepts once printed on paper or copied on index cards. The binder rings will be used to help keep students supplies organized by units of study. Chart paper is mostly used for teacher anchor charts or student presentation of group work. Some of my students come from low income families, and being able to have classroom resources will help them access learning in new ways that they aren't able to at home. This year is special for me as I get to work with a smaller number of students. I hope to see their English proficiency scores increase as a result of the planned strategies for these resources that I hope will aid their study efforts.
