Escaping Thanos

Help me give my students a countdown clock to really spice up the pressure of escaping Thanos in my Guardians of the Galaxy themed escape room.

My Students

I currently teach at a school that would be classified as Title I in most states. Over half the students here are on fee waivers or reduced lunch. The thing that really amazes me is how humble my students are. They are always willing to work hard and put forth the effort required to learn. Lots of my students have part-time jobs to help pay the bills for their family while also attending high school. They are AMAZING!

Most of these kids have never worked with a computer.

I like showing them that computers can be fun!

My Project

Escape rooms are a great way to teach kids critical thinking skills combined with curriculum review and teamwork. It can make any boring classroom or environment thrilling and extremely interactive.

An escape room, when planned properly, is able to provide kids the opportunity to work in groups with their peers in a fun environment.

This also helps the kids learn how to think critically. I give them a set of instructions and clues that they have to figure out in order to receive the next steps. I was able to do an escape room last semester with my kids and their reaction was priceless. They were fully engaged in the escape room with each other and excited to complete tasks and challenges. The biggest feedback I got after the event was that it would have been a better experience with more decorations and a stronger theme.

Last year when I completed this escape room with my classes I was amazed to see how even the kids who don’t typically stay engaged were fully invested with their team.
