My 7th grade science class this year is one that is eager to get involved in their learning. I've seen their creativity and abilities to work together and I can't wait to dive into science with this group!
My students love a good challenge, so it is very important that I find new and innovative ways to engage them and encourage problem solving skills.
We are a small, rural school, growing at a rapid pace, serving kids pre-K to 12, many of which are from low income families. We want our kids to develop the habits of mind that will help them to be successful in their futures.
My Project
Have you ever been in an escape room where your sole purpose was to figure out how to get out? This is the kind of problem solving that tickles the minds of my students. The tool boxes with hasps, locks, and decoding materials all provide for fun and engaging activities no matter what content I will be teaching.
These escape room lock boxes will provide a special kind of immersion that will engage and motivate students to dig deeper, think harder, and problem solve better.
Students will be thinking about the content they are learning and working together with classmates to solve the science-related puzzles in order to unlock the next clue and ultimately the secret prize inside!
