My Students
My school is a public charter school providing students (learners) in grades 6-8 a hands-on STEAM, aerospace focused and project-based curriculum. We are the first school in the nation to be located right near an airport. We are located next to Wings Over the Rockies Exploration Of Flight at Centennial Airport in Englewood, Colorado. Our learners come from all over the Denver area, from Franktown to Aurora to Arvada and beyond. This diversity brings different perspectives to our classrooms. Some of our learners have been home-schooled and some are just looking for a different type of school and have found their home at CSA!
Our learners are creative thinkers and very excited about learning!
Our curriculum focuses on core academic competencies in addition to key focus areas that will prepare learners for promising careers in aerospace and technology.
My Project
Escape rooms and puzzle solving is popular right now. Middle Schoolers enjoy learning through problem solving and opening that final lock is so rewarding. Learners leave that day feeling accomplished and are motivated to keep going.
Learning and review can be fun while we ‘escape’.
Breakout Edu kits will provide my learners with different locks and puzzles. It will also give learners the opportunity to create their own and show new learning in an innovative creative way. They will show off financial literacy by creating clues worth various amounts based on how helpful an item is to solving their box, and make decisions based on the financial impact.
The Zoomy microscope can be attached to a computer or doc cam to magnify anything learners are curious about.
