Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As the school year progressed, I observed that many of my students would hunch over for work and especially when they would come see me for feedback or I would go over to them and provide feedback. The hunched over position is not ideal for posture but also for self confidence! With their shyness comes a lack of growth in their English speaking abilities- if we can increase their confidence I am sure their English acquisition and usage will improve.
With a standing mobile desk, students will be forced to stand upright and with confidence as I move around the room to meet with them.
Since many of my students are new to this country, they are very shy and anxious and naturally bring a more cowardly position. I want to inadvertently teach them that standing tall creates a more confident individual. Once students feel more confident, I believe their English acquisition and speaking will greatly improve.
