This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a group of 22 lively 7 year olds. A lot of them are new to the country and are getting accustomed to a new home and school life. Our different backgrounds make us a unique classroom.
Our days are filled with stories and adventure.
They love to tell stories about their country and all the fun things they miss. This year I intend to use those wonderful stories to build a good writing foundation. our main focus will be literacy since a lot of them are still learning how to read and write.
My Project
These tablets will help my students improve their reading skills by providing an alternate option to holding a book. My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently!
With these tablets, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
Student will be provided with an opportunity to log into our Renaissance Learning and Raz Kids which our both supplemental reading programs used in our school.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these tablets will allow flexibility in the way they access books. This project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
