Equity-Centered Design Thinking and Innovative Mindsets Teacher Institute
I need to grow my teacher toolkit of design thinking and innovation. I am excited for this opportunity to attend an institute called, "Equity-Centered Design Thinking and Innovative Mindsets" by traveling to Denver.
In my classroom we are learning about career opportunities in Project Lead the Way Design & Modeling and Automation & Robotics while acquiring the necessary soft skills and hard skills needed to be successful in life.
My 6th graders, being in their first year of middle school, are open to new ideas; I am grateful that this gives me the opportunity to foster growth mindsets and a love of STEM!
This institute will give me new ideas to integrate growth mindset and problem-based learning into my classroom. I am always thankful for new learning opportunities!
My Project
Design thinking and innovative mindsets are at the core of all Project Lead the Way modules.
The experience of attending an institute with like-minded educators will help me grow my teacher's toolkit in design thinking and innovative mindsets.
The institute will take attendees on a deep dive into how empathy can lead to more impactful, equitable and innovative solutions to real-world problems.
This is my 18th year teaching and my 2nd year teaching Project Lead the Way to 6th graders. My students would greatly benefit from having more instruction in what it means to have an innovator's mindset as they learn about and practice design thinking in my classes.
