Equity and Diversity in a STEM Environment

Help me give my students a reference of other cultures and backgrounds different than what they are used to. Help me allow the few diverse students to read about books that pertain to them.

My Project

I'm trying to provide a classroom library that many of my rural students may not otherwise have a chance to read. I've included graphic novels because many of my special education students are reluctant readers.

While I've added graphic novels, I've added chapter books, as well, that my students can read if they so choose.

I've also added STEM books to encourage STEM thinking in my classroom with real-life stories about women in STEM.

One title that I included is Hidden Figures because I would like to do a classroom read. This upcoming school year, I would like to try something different to engage my students by reading about how women of color were pioneers in space technology and mathematics in a time when society didn't give much credit.
