This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
HBGS is a Title I school, and many of our students do not have access to personal electronic equipment. Our amazing students are ready to learn and prepare for high school and beyond. They are vibrant and curious about the world, but they need the means to learn in this new school environment.
More than half of our students will be working 100% remotely this fall.
Those who choose the “Blended Learning” option will still be remote 50% of the time. And although the past 6 months have been challenging and often tragic, our students are eager to return to school in any way they can, and they are ready to make this year their best yet. They need the tools to make this happen.
My Project
Please assist us in getting Chromebooks into the hands of our students so that they can learn effectively this year, whether in the building or online. New York City DOE-provided iPads will get kids in the door of learning, but will not allow them full access to learning activities that will help them succeed.
Chromebooks will give students a huge advantage over iPads: students will be able to complete assignments using a keyboard and navigate through the variety of educational websites and activities we have planned for them.
Whether they are submitting work as a Google Doc, or having a discussion via video classes, having the technology to match their drive is essential.
