This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is a smaller school for our area filled with great kids that are willing and ready to learn! My students are from various backgrounds and they each bring unique qualities to our classroom! Everyone is different, but they work together extremely well and enjoy collaborating on group projects and activities. They are full of energy and love to move around and do active things like play sports or dance. They are constantly smiling and always chatting with each other!
My school was affected by Hurricane Irma.
Our students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of our students receiving free and lunch. There are a multitude of teams and clubs that fit the needs of everyone. Our football team lost shoulder pads and other equipment due to Hurricane Irma and other small items that they have replaced.
My Project
These materials will make a huge difference in our students lives on so many levels. Our students want to learn play the game of football and give themselves an opportunity at advancing their educational career. The majority of players have never received brand new equipment in their entire life. The helmet is reconditioned and shoulder pads are passed down overtime past 8-10 years. The new equipment will provide the opportunity for the kids to play more comfortably and reduce the probability of sores because the shoulder pads are new. As they progress, they will be able to do team and independent work to build a great program. The shoulder pads will play many roles in the program for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to play and they benefit from being properly protected while they play.
