it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This school year we introduced our student to futsal and cricket. We had such a high demand for futsal that we were able to create 2 boys teams and a girls team to put into a league. Our boys teams had to compete against each other in the semifinals of the playoffs and the girls made it all the way to the championship match.
Our new Afghan students introduced us to cricket.
They started playing on the side during a free day using Benji Ball equipment for a bat and a chair as the stumps. The more they played the more other students became interested. Next, we had a whole unit on cricket.
This new equipment could be the difference maker in a championship next year or the love of a new sport. We want to give our students the equipment they need to improve their skills in sports that bring them so much joy playing. Having the soccer goals allows our students to play indoors on a smaller court to help simulate futsal, while the futsal balls are easier to control because of their size and weight. The basketballs would replace our old balls that will not stay aired up throughout a class period.
