Help me give my students enough markers to work on the whiteboards for the entire school year.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a high school math teacher in South Central Los Angeles. My school is a Title I school that is considered PHBAO (Predominantly Hispanic, Black, Asian, or other Non-Anglo). My students all qualify for free breakfast and lunch and comes from primarily low-income families. Many of the students do not have access the tools and technology needed for success in mathematics. With this lack of access, many students have to share calculators, iPads, laptops, etc. which slows down their learning drastically.
In the face of adversity, my students remain enthusiastic about learning.
All students remain diligent, patient, and persistent as we all adapt to learning while adjusting to the pandemic. Although we are back in the classroom, many students struggle with the tremendous impact of the pandemic. Many families are still struggling. This is very motivating for me as a teacher to provide as much support as I can to my students and their families.
My Project
Students need markers to safely work on the whiteboards. Our classroom consist of whiteboards on every wall. Students spend most of the class period doing work on these whiteboards. This allows students to annotate their own work, strategically use colors to show mathematical connections, and see each other's thinking. The markers provided in this project will me give each student their own set of whiteboard markers. This way, students do not need to share them and limit their exposures to disease causing viruses us as the Corona Virus. These markers will enhance the learning and safety of the students in my classroom.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
