My Students

Our students are working hard to embrace the new "way" of thinking with our Common Core Standards.
As teachers, we are too! My students come from diverse backgrounds. Many of their families are still dealing with loss of jobs, cut in hours, etc. from the economy. Our school does all that it can to help out those in need, but like everyone, we too can fall short.
My Project
With the Common Core Standards come a change in how we teach kids to think. They have to be able to explore the "who, what, where, when and why" of everything that we do. With our new math series calculators are called on to be materials very often. We haven't had a need for them in years and when I went through the school's supply more than half of them didn't work. If we are awarded these calculators my students won't have to share them in class. They also will have calculators that are alike and so it will not be as challenging for me to explain how each calculator works for the problems that we are computing.
The donation of the calculators and caddy will make a world of difference in my classroom.
It will not only help me out greatly, but it will enhance the learning of the students in my classroom not only now, but also in upcoming years. The students will be able to complete their math assignments without worry or having to share devices, which means a lot.
