I teach 6th-8th grade literacy skills in a school that has recently improved from being labeled a low-performing school.
In an effort to ensure every student is "into" the lesson, I need a tangible way to know if they are "getting it." Next, middle school students need to be constantly active. Last, I would like a reusable way to have students record answers instead of printing too many copies.
I would love for my classroom to have a set of 35 individual dry-erase whiteboards. If each student had one board and a dry-erase marker, feedback for the teacher could be instant. Upon posing a question, students could write down their answers. Then, at the teacher's request, all students could hold up their answers and compare with other students' answers. Instantly, all knowledge is laid out for all to see. A great advantage of this is that paper won't be wasted. Instead, students would simply erase their answers and begin writing their next answer.
You will make it possible for all students in a class to be engaged in the lesson. You will help them learn from each other while helping the environment.
