My Students
My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects. Our school has added an environmental awareness elective that has captured their attention. With the proper tools I am confident that the students will participate in projects to improve our environmental footprint on campus.
My Project
After an absence of more than a year due to Covid-19, our students are eager to get back on campus to find solutions to our campus waste diversion system as well as provide information on our environmental impact on campus by collecting waste using the trash pickers, reusable garden waste bags to gathering data in a sustainable way, and gloves to make sure student safety is a priority. This Environmental Management System (EMS) will help with answering key questions to assist in developing an environmental strategy, identify environmental aspects, developing objectives, targets, and measures. Communication, documentation, auditing, and management reviews will also be addressed. Members of the Environmental Awareness elective will grow to be student leaders who teach their peers about the importance of making conscious choices about the environment.
